Acer has just announced the first part of its Windows 8 gathering:the Acer Aspire S7 limit Ultrabooks are 11.6″ and it also 13.3″ laptops all that both include 1080p capacitive IPS touchscreens, as well and so Ivy Bridge processors, backlit six string, 4GB of RAM, and two 64GB team state drives configured held in a RAID 0 configuration providing extra speed. Both laptops are a result of be released on October 26 mounted on Windows 8, and amounts start at $1, 199 for your 11″ model and $1, 399 for your 13″.
We got some hands-on time with these laptops on february, and came away fairly amazed at their build quality—both are created mostly of aluminum (though the 13″ model includes a lid made of white Gorilla Glass instead of the aluminum lid the 11″ uses), and thus the laptops have a sturdiness that is quite unlike past plastic Acer products like the Timeline M5 i need recently reviewed. The 13″ blueprint measures 12.73″ conditions 8.79″ x 0.47″ and it also weighs 2.86 body fat, while the 11″ program measures 11.17″ conditions 7.70″ x 0.48″ and it also weighs 2.29 body fat.

The screens are one example laptops’ biggest selling points—we praised the 1080p IPS show up in the ASUS Zenbook Prime as part of upping its game relative to the cheap 1366×768 TN panels simply by most PCs, and the touchscreens about to Aspire S7 laptops are found impressive.Colors and viewing angles are excellent, and the high resolution should satisfy both the people who want more screen have, and those who want to use Windows’ built-in scaling to obtain a larger (but less pixelated) manufacturer.
The hinges can be impressive—they’ve been made extra stiff the easiest the screens from leaning backward as users react with the machines’ touchscreens, and exactly how panel on the 13″ plan can lay completely housing if desired.

The keyboard is something of contention—both models go online same keyboard, which takes the tilde key from the number row (where it typically sits allowed to remain of the 1 key) and moves it adjacent to an extremely compressed Lids Lock key.It also has the odd backwards L Enter key ultimate recent Acer keyboards, as well as perhaps half-height arrow keys, and lacks dedicated function keys even though there being plenty of room for another row in both mini netbooks.Like I have with many island style keyboards, I found the keys to be shallow, though without the mushy believe that accompanies some cheaper Ultrabooks. Both models use an aluminum multitouch trackpad and no dedicated buttons; the trackpad with a 11″ model is a little smaller than that in that to the 13″ model.

Finally, both laptops get hold of a decent but not mind-blowing many ports:the 13″ blueprint has two USB 3.0 plug-ins, an SD card target audience, a headphone jack, in addition to a Micro HDMI port, when the 11″ model sports twin USB 3.0 plug-ins, a microSD card target audience, and a headphone jack.Expect full reviews of their total laptops as they made available.
